Privacy policy
This site and the applications behind it are a personal, single-household home-automation project. They exist so the people who live in (and visit) one apartment can control its shades, thermostats, and stereo. There is no company here, no product, and no interest in anyone's data.
What this policy covers
The pages served under owenbrightbot.ai and its subdomains, and the Google OAuth application named "home", which connects our household's Home Assistant server to Google's Smart Device Management (Nest) API.
Google user data
The "home" application requests access to the Smart Device Management API for exactly one purpose: reading and adjusting the two Nest thermostats in this household.
- Thermostat data (temperature, humidity, mode, setpoints) is retrieved by a Home Assistant server running on a computer inside the home and is stored only there.
- No Google user data is sold, shared, transferred, or disclosed to any third party, used for advertising, or used to train models.
- Access can be revoked at any time from Google account permissions, which immediately cuts the connection.
Data collected by this site
These pages have no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no trackers. Private areas are protected by Cloudflare Access, which handles sign-in and keeps standard security logs (email address and IP at login). The web server keeps ordinary, short-lived technical logs. Control pages read and adjust the state of devices in the home (shade positions, thermostat settings, stereo volume) and store nothing about visitors.
Sharing
Nothing is shared with anyone. Traffic to this site passes through Cloudflare (as the network carrier) and device commands pass through the vendors' own APIs (Google for Nest). No other parties are involved.
